Acts 12 recounts an amazing work of God in response to prayer and a typical response of people in the face of God’s working.
Peter has been locked in jail, probably facing death. The church begins to pray for Peter and God sends an angel to walk him out of jail. Peter goes to the house the where the church is praying for him and knocks. In a funny (if not so true) way the people are in shocked: “… when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.” Acts 12:16b
We should not be surprised when God does what He promises, but we often are. -PB
