“And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” Acts 11:26b
It’s been often said, but it is still impressive that these early disciples’ lives so resembled Jesus’ that others thought they were like Him, and labeled them as such. Today those who call themselves Christians cannot seem to move quick enough to resemble the world, they seem to despise the markings of the Savior that rescued their soul.
The first “Christians” identified with a Savior that was hated by the world, the truth of unpopular scripture, the cross of shame, the work of reconciling people with God, and the hope of resurrection. May we not take the title lightly. -PB
