Nahum means “Compassion,” yet in chapter 1 verse 2 his book declares that “God is Jealous.” How are the two ideas reconciled?

“The LORD is good,” verse 7 says, so all that is against Him is wrong. God will fiercely defend His name, and therefore those who trust in Him. Those who withstand God are in danger of reaping the whirlwind (v.8), while those that trust in Him feel His grace.

“The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.” Nahum 1:7 -PB
