It had been 400yrs since anyone had really heard from God. Many had forgotten all about him, yet a faithful couple prayed anyway.
“But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.” Luke 1:13
Look how God works: Zacharias means “the LORD remembers,” and Elisabeth means “the oath of God.” God does hear our prayers, He remembers His promises, and He keeps His Word. He gave a child to these two and specifically named him “God is gracious,” or JOHN. John. Prepared the way for JESUS, who is what His name means “Salvation!”
In the darkest times, God’s grace shines brightest! Do not lose hope. -PB
