“Meekness” is a misunderstood quality today. If meekness truly meant flimsy, shiftless, dispassionate, “do whatever to get along” then how should they ever “inherit the earth” (Mat 5:5)? Meekness, however means humble confidence. Biblically speaking this confidence is placed in God’s grace working in one’s self.

Consider 1 Peter 5:5b “for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” Pride will certainly bring one low, for any confidence placed in self/man is doomed to fail. However one may boldly go forward trusting in Him who has never failed.  This is not arrogance, but confidence.  This is not softness, but strength. Have a good day! -PB
