“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.” John 14:27a
Jesus intends His followers to have real peace. The world can only give temporary imitations that fail. Jesus gives true inner peace that passes all understanding (Phil 4:7). His gifts are not corrupted by the world’s environment, but lasting.
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
